Dustin Poirier Releases Statement About Feud With Conor McGregor Over Missing Donation

The dust — and Dustin Poirier — seems to have settled in the public social media feud about Conor McGregor‘s promised donation that has yet to be sent.

Days after Poirier called out McGregor for dropping communication about a promised $500,000 donation to The Good Fight Foundation, Poirier has taken to social media again — this time to express regret for the way he handled the situation in the first place.

To summarize — McGregor told Poirier that he’d donate $500,000 to his charity organization after their rematch in January. Poirier won the fight and apparently never heard back from McGregor’s team about the donation despite repeated attempts at contact via email. Poirier called McGregor out on social media ahead of their upcoming trilogy fight, and after some back-and-forth, McGregor hurled some insults at Poirier and declared that “the fight is off.”

McGregor’s claim that he’d fight someone else was quickly shut down by the UFC itself, which took the liberty of finally announcing Poirier vs. McGregor 3 as the headliner for UFC 264.

Since the fight announcement, the drama between the two fighters seems to have cooled off, and yesterday, Poirier released a statement deeming his public callout of McGregor a “mistake” and saying he wants to focus on “spreading positivity.”

“I am very passionate about my charity as you all know,” Poirier wrote on Twitter. “I jumped the gun and took my private matters between Conor and my foundation public. My mistake, we live, we learn. Spreading positivity and doing good is my goal.

“I feel like I have brought a negative energy and personal opinions into something I am working so hard on that gives people a reason to cheer and smile. I will take this in stride and continue to fight the good fight! New goal coming soon and it is a big one. Thank you to all who is involved and all the supporters who believe in our vision.”

Hopefully, this is the last of the verbal sparring that takes place between these two before their lightweight bout at UFC 264 on July 10.
