Last week, it was revealed that Khabib Nurmagomedov had donated to the charity of his UFC 244 opponent, Dustin Poirier. The donation came by the way of auctioning off one of Poirier’s shirts from the fight, and while the exact donation amount hadn’t been revealed, Nurmagomedov’s father had stated that the shirt had gone for an “expensive” amount.
Now, Poirier has revealed on Ariel Helwani’s show that Nurmagomedov ended up donating $100,000 to the Good Fight Foundation. But that’s not all — Poirier also said that Dana White had confirmed with him over the phone that he’d be matching the donation.
The donations will go the Good Fight’s latest beneficiary, the Fight for the Forgotten (FFTF), which helps the Batwa Pygmy people of Uganda. The goal for the fundraiser was as follows:
“A recent torrential flood ruined the only clean source of water their village’s school and nearby orphanage had. Together, The Good Fight and FFTF, are setting a main crowdfunding goal of $25,000 which will build a new deep well, solar-operated pumping system, and water tower that will completely transform the way they receive safe and clean water for the school’s students, staff, and surrounding community.​
The secondary stretch goal of $50,000 would allow for the charities to drill another six water wells equipped with hand pumps for the neighboring community and serve thousands more with life-saving and life-giving water.â€Â
With $200,000 raised for the Good Fight Foundation, the organization has achieved four times its secondary stretch goal, which can work wonders in helping the FFTF or the other beneficiary organizations of Poirier’s charity.
