The sixth big installment of BJJ Stars goes down this Saturday, and we have a night full of star-powered matches to look forward to.
The main event of the night will see current BJJ Stars heavyweight champion Felipe Pena defend his title against Patrick Gaudio.
Pena, a 2017 ADCC absolute champion and multiple-time world champion, claimed the BJJ Stars title earlier this year at BJJ Stars 5, defeating Luiz Panza, Erich Munis, and Gutemberg Pereira to earn the honor. Of course, Pena’s first appearance for the promotion ended when his opponent, Erberth Santos, ran off the mats in an infamous and violent altercation.
Gaudio, who won Euros in 2020, is also a BJJ Stars veteran, narrowly defeating both Santos and Devhonte Johnson at separate events last year. He’s been busy so far in 2021, taking home a win in the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam and then earning bronze at the World Pro. This won’t be the first time he and Pena have faced each other. As black belts, they’ve faced off three times so far (once in the finals of Worlds in 2018), with Pena winning each contest. Could this be the day Gaudio finally takes home a win against Pena?
True to its name, BJJ Stars will have many more, well, BJJ stars lined up for this event. Before Pena and Gaudio take to the mats, Lucas Barbosa and Matheus Diniz will be facing off in the co-main event. Diniz and Barbosa will also be competing in the main and co-main event, respectively, at the upcoming Road to ADCC card.
Before that, two-time ADCC champion Yuri Simoes will be taking on 2018 world champion Mahamed Aly. Erberth Santos will also be coming back, this time to take on Gutemberg Pereira, and earlier in the event, Bianca Basilio will be up against Gabriela Fechter. There are many more matches to look forward to throughout the evening, so make sure you tune in well before the main event to see all the action.
