I would like to grapple with this guy
There’s no doubt in my mind, this kid is really good. That said I think that competitive jiujitsu is at a crossroads and I really hope that they choose wisely.
In the 60s and 70s wrestlers and jujitsuka were allowed to compete in Judo competition. They did well, particularly on the ground. Then the rule changes started to put them at a disadvantage. The problem with that was it turned Judo from a martial art/ sport into just a sport , and it has faced a downward spiral ever since. Many of us jumped ship to BJJ competition and even more quit competing altogether.
I would really hate to see the same happen to jiujitsu.
