Holly Holm To Compete For Inaugural UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship

Former UFC Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm has the chance to make history by becoming the first woman to hold two UFC championships in two different divisions.

Holm will have this opportunity on February 11 when she takes on the “Iron Lady” Germaine de Randamie.

Holm is famous in the MMA world for being the only fighter to have a win over Ronda Rousey, a woman who was once thought to be unstoppable in her division.  Since that win, though, Holly has been on a two-fight losing streak, relinquishing her title to Miesha Tate back in March, and losing again in July to Valentina Shevchenko. Holm will be looking to snap that streak when she gets into the cage in February.

Germaine de Randamie, on the other hand, is enjoying a two-fight win streak in the women’s bantamweight division. In fact, the Dutch woman has only lost once during her UFC career: to reigning bantamweight champ, Amanda Nunes.

Of course, the question must be asked, how will Cyborg play into all of this?  The Invicta Featherweight Champion has been demanding a UFC women’s featherweight division for a while now, and will no doubt be eager to get her claws into the newly minted title.

UFC fans will have to wait and see.
