In a recent edition of his podcast, comedian and martial artist Joe Rogan spoke to neuroscientist Andrew Hill about the merits of aikido as a fighting method. Hill was adamant that he had seen video footage of aikido masters in the 1970’s, who could subdue opponents without even touching them. Rogan was highly skeptical of his claims, and suggested that aikido is of limited use in real world combat situations. On the show, footage was broadcast of a Turkish wrestler submitting an aikido practitioner. This footage appeared to validate Rogan’s assertion.
Wait what? This “Aikido guy” doesn’t know the founder of Aikido’s name? (Morihei Ueshiba)
And theres a video of a UFC champ getting put down by a vetrian of akido? Depends on the person and there skill level.
