In a recent episode of the Kelly Clarkson Show, the singer-turned-TV host invited actor and jiu-jitsu purple belt Mario Lopez on as a guest. Over the course of the segment, the two got to chatting Lopez’s grappling skills.
Much to the delight of the audience – and Clarkson herself – Lopez agreed to teach Clarkson the classic rear-naked choke. “It’s got kind of a naughty name,” Lopez admitted, laughing, as he demonstrated the move on Clarkson, who jokingly exclaimed, “I think I’ve had this dream.”
Clarkson then got her turn to choke out Lopez, to the applause of the viewers. It’s the latest in a growing trend of celebrities engaging with jiu-jitsu, which has only grown in popularity as a martial art and combat sport over the past few years.
