Are You Too Old To Start Jiu-Jitsu?

One of the most common questions asked in Brazilian jiu-jitsu is, “Am I too old to start training?” In fact, the question is asked so often that I even wrote an article a while back pleading with would-be BJJ practitioners to stop asking it.

Short and to the point: no, it’s not. If you’re breathing and older than pre-school age, you’re old enough to train.

However, as second-degree Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Nick “Chewy” Albin explains in this video, you do have to think about what your goals are, because you’re probably not going to be the next up-and-coming World champion.

If you’re middle age or over and thinking about training in BJJ, take the time to watch this video.
