You’re rolling with someone who doesn’t train in your martial art, don’t expect them to follow your rules. A cross-face or knuckle grind is unpleasant and not something you’d want to do to a training partner regularly, but this wasn’t a friendly training match. You both had something to prove and needed to win to feel validated, so it’s completely expected that someone would do that stuff.
That guy wouldnt do an arm pin guard pass like that behind the players back if he hadnt trained before. Shoulda put him to sleep with the triangle.
