Roger Gracie Retires From BJJ Competition (Video)

If you haven’t heard the news already, Roger Gracie, who picked up what could have been his greatest win of all time, is now retired from BJJ competition.

“I told myself if I won, if I do really well here, that will be my career,” he told MMA Fighting.

Roger did indeed win, and in spectacular fashion, too! The 35-year-old grandson of Carlos Gracie choked out a man who was widely considered to be the greatest BJJ competitor of his generation — if not ever — Marcus Almeida “Buchecha.”

When asked what he thought of his win, Gracie simply said, “It was more. Everything I expect, it was ten times more.”

We here at the Jiu-Jitsu Times wish Roger Gracie nothing but the best as he shares his greatness with all of his students at Roger Gracie Jiu Jitsu and continues on his MMA career in whatever promotion he chooses to stay with.
