Season Kickoff! Abu Dhabi Grand Slam lands in Rio for the opener of another tour of thrills

The 2022/2023 season of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Tour kicks off this weekend (July 29-31, 2022), in beautiful Rio de Janeiro. Once again, the best competitors in both the Master and the Professional divisions will gather at the Arena Carioca 1, in the Olympic Park for three days of thrilling matches.

On July 29-31, The Abu Dhabi Jiu Jitsu Pro (AJP) will welcome the elite of the sport for the season opener of the 2022/2023 Tour. Brazil loves Jiu Jitsu and loves the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam. The AJP expects packed stands with fans and exciting matches on the mats throughout the three days.

His Excellency Abdulmunam Al Hashemi, Chairman of the AJP, salutes all athletes and Jiu Jitsu fans and wishes good luck to all: “We are proud to offer another season of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Tour to athletes of all nationalities. It is the AJP’s main mission to promote an active lifestyle through Jiu Jitsu and provide the safest and most fair competition environment possible. Let the matches begin.”

Masters Division opens the schedule on July 29, 2022

The best athletes in the world over 30 years old will be in the Arena Carioca 1, on July 29. The competition is open to athletes of all nationalities in the Purple, Brown and Black Belts. Competitors will be divided in four age divisions.

After the Masters, it will be time for the main event as the Professional division enters the mats on Saturday (30) and Sunday(31), also at the Arena Carioca 1. The best men and women in the world will test their skills in two days of thrilling matches. Each gold medal will earn the champions 3000 points and big cash prizes.

The ADGS Rio for the Professional division will feature athletes in the Purple, Brown, and Black Belts. Competitors in the male and female divisions need to pay attention to the times and dates for weigh-ins and competitions. Click here for more info.

2022/2023 ADGS Season to feature events all over the globe

The new season of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam kicks off this July 29-31, 2022 in Rio and then goes on a trip around the world. Eight events are scheduled for the next 11 months, until May, 2023. Jiu Jitsu competitors will have a chance to step on the ADGS mats in Brazil, USA, Japan, Russia, China, Australia, UK and UAE. Click here for more info on each event.
