Selfie sticks are no longer just about taking obnoxious photos of yourself with your friends anymore. A school in Russia is now teaching its students to use the smartphone tool as a weapon.
“Unfortunately, there is not always a tool at hand, and not everyone can use force in martial arts,” said one man in the video. “But if you have mastered some skills here [with the selfie stick], you can feel more comfortable in the street.”
“I decided to come here because it is very exciting,” said a female student. “I think it is necessary to know how to protect yourself in a difficult situation.”
