One of . . . if not the . . . biggest MMA events in history is tonight! UFC 205: McGregor vs Alvarez is set to go down at New York’s world-famous Madison Square Garden.
To say that the card is stacked would be an understatement. Besides the main event – where the UFC’s number one draw, Conor McGregor, will attempt reign over two divisions when he takes on lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez – UFC 205 will also feature a welterweight championship match between the division’s kingpin, Tyron Woodley and challenger, Stephan Thompson.
UFC 205 will also feature the return of the man who ended Anderson’s Silva’s rule over the middleweight division, Chris Weidman. The native New Yorker will no doubt be welcomed as a hero in front of his hometown crowd when he takes on Brazil’s Yoel Romero.
Two women’s fights are also on the main card. Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate will be looking to get back in the win column when she takes on Raquel Pennington. Undefeated stawweight queen Joanna Jędrzejczyk will be fighting to defend her crown when she takes on fellow Pole, Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
The event will mark the UFC’s first foray into the Big Apple.
