UFC Flyweight Brandon Moreno Promoted to Black Belt

One of the best fighters in the UFC just leveled up his grappling game.

#1 ranked flyweight and Ultimate Fighter vet Brandon Moreno received his BJJ black belt from coach Raul Avizu earlier today. Moreno detailed the experience in an Instagram post, along with accompanying pictures.

A BJJ player for the past 16 years, Moreno has utilized his Jiu-Jitsu to great effect in the cage. Of his 18 wins, 10 have come via submission for a rate of 56% (had to look that up, I suck at math).

Going to a draw in an exemplary fight against flyweight title holder Deiveson Figueiredo, the new black belt holds a six fight unbeaten streak in the UFC. With his new rank, one can only hope he’ll be open to some juicy grappling super fights once his punching schedule opens up.

Congratulations to Brandon Moreno!
