WCVB reported on this touching story of leadership and selflessness displayed by undefeated Norton High School wrestler Deven Schuko of Norton, MA. Last weekend, Deven squared off on the mats against of Andy Howland of Dighton-Rehoboth High School who has downs-syndrome. Prior to the match, Deven, who had a 27-0 record this season, agreed to make Andy’s day by agreeing to take the fall in the match. In the match shown below, Deven handled the experience with class and grace by giving Andy a once-in-a-lifetime memory.
“Deven Schuko, he’s a class act,” Norton wrestling coach Pat Coleman said. “Deven has a natural respect for any wrestler, such as Andy, and I think Deven just proved there that it’s never wrong to do the right thing.”
