AJ Agazarm’s MMA record is now 2-1 thanks to his victory against Jonathan Quiroz tonight at Bellator 228.

Agazarm, a 2014 IBJJF No-Gi World Champion and 2017 ADCC silver medalist, got the win over Quiroz via unanimous decision. His background in jiu-jitsu was apparent from the moment he walked out in a gi and his black belt, and he came close to submitting Quiroz after taking his back and attempting to sink a rear naked choke. However, Quiroz was able to defend against the submission attempt and force the fight to go to the judges.

Agazarm hasn’t competed in BJJ since last year, when he decided to switch his focus to MMA for the time being. He’s fought three times since the beginning of 2019, with his first fight ending in a split-decision loss and his second resulting in him winning via rear naked choke in the first round.
