Anthony Bourdain is typically known for being a chef and television show host. In 2013, we learned that he was beginning an adventure into BJJ. Most fans and fighters would assume that he’d “fame” his way up the ranks rather than earning his position. Anyone that’s seen Bourdain while cooking or interacting with someone on his shows would know otherwise, though. Throughout his career, he’s proven himself to be a genuine, intelligent, and hard-working individual.

It seems like that translated into his BJJ endeavor, too. Anthony Bourdain’s Journey to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blue Belt came to an end back in August. On that day, a photo was taken to commemorate his accomplishment. The excitement and joy on Bourdain’s face isn’t difficult to discern in that photo. We don’t know how far up the ranks he’ll climb, but he’s not lacking in dedication by any means. Bourdain’s story shows that everyone starts from the bottom and works hard for promotions in BJJ.
