10th Planet and EBI founder Eddie Bravo has released the bracket for the sixth edition of The Eddie Bravo Invitational which will take place on Sunday, April 24th in the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, CA. The card will also be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass. Here is the bracket for the 16-man single elimination open weight tournament for a prize of up to $50,000.
Initial thoughts
- The left side of the bracket looks absolutely stacked with Dean Lister, Eddie Cummings, Yuri Simoes, and Garry Tonon all on the same side of the bracket.
- The right side of the bracket has no easy outs either with Richie Martinez, Matheus Diniz, Rustam Chsiev, and DJ Jackson.
- Based on the bracket, Dean Lister is the top seed, Richie Martinez is the second seed, ADCC bronze medalist Rustam Chsiev is the third seed, and three-time EBI champion Garry Tonon is the fourth seed. I don’t know how Garry Tonon is the fourth seed and how Richie Martinez is seeded ahead of him.
- Also, how is Yuri Simoes the fifth seed? The guy won the 2015 ADCCs and beat Romulo Barral and Keenan Cornelius at 194 lbs.
- Needless to say, I am curious who and how the seeding and bracketing were done by EBI.
