Floyd Mayweather’s Uncle Thinks Floyd Has A Chance Against Conor McGregor In An MMA Fight

Weeks ago, undefeated boxing champion Floyd “Money” Mayweather made a video teasing his possible MMA debut this year.

Naturally, many in the combat sports community (myself included) don’t have much faith in Mayweather’s success in mixed martial arts. Mayweather is 40 years old, well above the average age of an MMA fighter, and has little to no grappling experience.

Furthermore, Floyd is talking about challenging “The Notorious” Conor McGregor, one of the most talented mixed martial artists fighting today. Conor is also over a decade younger than Floyd.

Not everyone thinks Conor will dance circles around Mayweather in the cage, though. Money has at least one man in his corner, and that man is his uncle, Jeff.

“The punches in MMA are completely different, Conor has a massive advantage over Floyd, but Floyd has a chance,” Jeff Mayweather said on the Mayweather Boxing Channel. “He is way faster and way more elusive than Conor, and he punches harder than Conor.”

Floyd’s uncle continued:

The same way he whooped his ass in boxing he can whoop him in MMA. It’s a dance, it ain’t about running, that’s boxing. MMA fighters do it too. McGregor can’t do that as well as him, and as long as he does that Floyd has a chance of winning.

Floyd, of course, will still have to worry about McGregor’s ground game, but if he can keep the match on his feet, he might just have what it takes to put up a fight against The Notorious.

All of this is assuming the fight actually happens, and considering Floyd will almost certainly suffer a pay cut if he fights in mixed martial arts, it’s doubtful Money will ever set foot in the cage.
