Former UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson Officially Signed With Bellator


A former UFC Lightweight Champion and former WEC Lightweight Champion has signed a deal with another promotion as Former UFC champ Benson Henderson announces he’s signed with Bellator . This is a major loss for the UFC as Henderson has been a mainstay of the UFC since the closing of the WEC and has held gold there. On the flip side, this brings a lot more exposure to the Bellator MMA brand as Henderson is a huge star in the world of MMA. It has yet to be revealed which division Henderson expects to compete in because he has previously competed at both lightweight and welterweight.

Currently in Bellator MMA, the lightweight champion is Will Brooks and the welterweight champion is Andrey Koreshkov, both provide interesting challenges for the former UFC champion. Henderson now joins such fighters as Josh Thomson, Josh Koscheck, Melvin Guillard, Phil Davis and other big name UFC veterans who have opted to join the ranks of Bellator MMA. Henderson’s last bout in the UFC came a few months back at UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs. Masvidal, which saw Henderson earn a split decision win over Jorge Masvidal. Henderson is a big name fighter who has made his way to Bellator MMA, it will be interesting to see who joins him next.
