Gordon Ryan And Andre Galvao Superfight Set For ADCC 2022

Four months after Gordon Ryan announced his leave of absence from the sport, it appears that he’ll be returning by this time next year.

ADCC 2022 will take place in front of 10,000 spectators on September 17 and 18, 2022 at the Thomas and Mack Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In an instagram post, the ADCC announced a superfight match-up between Gordon Ryan and Andre Galvao:

“2019: Galvao won his 4th consecutive ADCC superfight against Felipe Pena. ADCC 2022 will have the greatest ADCC competitor, Andre Galvao face off against 3X ADCC champion and current double gold champion, Gordon Ryan.”

Galvao’s victory over Felipe Pena is significant as Pena holds ADCC wins over Gordon Ryan in 2016 and 2017 by RNC and points, respectively. On the other side of the equation, Ryan held the most submissions in his 2017 and 2019 ADCC gold-medal runs.

Ryan continued the trash talk in the comment section of ADCC’s post:

“Andre accepted for the base 10k to lose after I smacked him. I should be entitled to 50% of the 990,000 dollars I saved ADCC. I’ll send over my bank details”

For those doubting the timeline of Ryan’s return, @ADCC_official followed with another post, assuring fans of his health:

“This pic was taken in July of this year, specifically for the ADCC 2022 poster. Gordon will be there 2022.”

Galvao has yet to address the news. In a March statement, he took the high road and denounced the actions that took place off the mats:

“I think trash talk is good to promote a fight, but it’s not good for life.”

As the hype continues to build, fans can anticipate an exciting display of style, technique, and strategy when we witness these two future legends finally compete head-to-head.
