A much-hyped rematch between Gordon Ryan and Felipe Pena that was set to take place at the third major 3rd Coast Grappling event has been removed from the event and indefinitely postponed.

3CG promoter Ryan McGuire told the Jiu-Jitsu Times that the shakeup was due to a contract dispute between 3CG and FloGrappling and that he still aims to make the Ryan/Pena match happen in the future.

“We are focusing on the events we have for the rest of the year (October 26 and December 7) and getting through this contract dispute. We still have the same goals: make grappling great again and change the game,” McGuire said in a statement to the JJT.

McGuire added, “Pena Vs Ryan being the most expensive but sought after match in Grappling but under our current deal and model it doesn’t fit.”

The October 26 event, a qualifier competition, already has a complete card. McGuire says that the December 7 lineup will be announced soon, but that the Pena/Ryan match “doesn’t fit under the current model.”

The Jiu-Jitsu Times will provide updates on this story as they become available.
