João Miyao Earns Luta Livre Black Belt Under Nicolas Renier and Jarbem Pacheco

One of jiu-jitsu’s most dominant competitors in the last decade, João Miyao, has been working to expand his grappling expertise, having now earned his black belt in Luta Livre under Nicolas Renier and Jarbem Pacheco.

As an elite grappler already, Miyao went to two of the best names in Luta Livre to receive his training. Miyao originally took private lessons with Bardem to learn like a “normal student”, but as a 5-time IBJJF World Champion, Miyao isn’t exactly a normal student, especially as a newcomer. It can be imagined that Miyao earned his black belt fairly quickly, in relative terms.

Renier announced Miyao’s accomplishment in a post to instagram,
