Mackenzie Dern is a black belt under her father, Wellington Dias. She is a multiple-time World Champion and Pan-Am Champion.

Dern began her professional mixed martial arts career last year at Legacy Fighting Championship 58, held in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She beat her opponent, Kenia Rosas, via unanimous decision.

With her recent Imanari choke victory over Montana Stewart, Dern now holds a 2-0 record in MMA.

Interestingly, Mackenzie Dern isn’t the only big-name, female mixed martial artist to win a Submission of the Year award. The popular mixed martial arts magazine, MMA Fighting, awarded its Submission of the Year prize to former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate for her title-winning rear-naked choke over former champion Holly Holm.
