Michelle Nicolini To Retire From Jiu-Jitsu Competition After Worlds 2016

The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world was put into shock recently when ten-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Champion Michelle Nicolini announced she was retiring after Worlds.

Nicolini will be retiring from the majority of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition to focus on a growing mixed martial arts career, where she currently holds a record of 2-1-0.

Nicolini plans on moving to Singapore shortly to join the Evolve MMA fight team, and she is also planning on competing in the One Championship promotion.

BJJ Legend Michelle Nicolini Officially Joins Evolve MMA as Coach and Fighter

Michelle Nicolini told BJJForum.com.br:

“What led me to this decision was my desire to challenge myself in a new way. I want to do other things and one day would have to stop fighting jiu-jitsu”

Her last tournament as a full time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor will be at the 2016 International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation Championships. This will end a ten-year run for the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legend.

Nicolini could seemingly return to MMA competition by the end of the year if she gets enough training behind her at Evolve, and she is definitely going to be one of the more dangerous women in the sport.
