Murder Suspect Apprehended Directly Outside Rener Gracie’s Home

If you were to visit a friend that had a dog, it would not seem unusual that the dog would bark as you enter the home. Alas, it is rather typical behavior of domesticated canines to vocalize anytime somebody steps foot on or near their territory.

Rener Gracie knows this as well as any dog owner, but what he was not expecting was to be awakened at 1 AM in the wee hours of Sunday morning by his stalwart Australian Shepherd known by the name of Tioki (pronounced Chok-ee). Australian Shepherds are highly intelligent and protective of their herds, it wouldn’t make sense that Tioki would be having a fit this late in the evening for no reason.

As Rener went to sleep that night, helicopters were surrounding the neighborhood, spotlighting the backyards, and he became informed that a murder had happened not far away. He proceeded to fall asleep before being awakened a couple hours later by his dog barking incessantly. As a protective measure for himself and his family, he exercised his second amendment right by grabbing his gun and looking to secure his property.

SWAT team members approached his front door and collaborated with him to enter his backyard. Fortunately, Rener did not have to engage in any hand-to-hand or firearms combat. The suspect was apprehended and all of the suspects of the murder were caught with the help of a trusty police dog.

While it is a relief that there was not any direct confrontation between Rener, his family, and suspected murderers, he appeared prepared for the worst by having his gun handy and having security cameras installed throughout the property to give adequate reconnaissance during a real life-threatening scenario. One thing is for certain, dogs are certainly man’s best friend in more ways than one.
