Eddie Alvarez has done it, ladies and gentlemen!
Without even having to step into the second round, the former Bellator champion can now add UFC Lightweight Champion to his resume.
The fight seemed to be evenly matched at the beginning, with both sides exchanging quick punches and leg kicks. However, Alvarez secured his win when he hit dos Anjos with a hard right. Keeping the pressure on, Eddie chipped away at his opponent with hard lefts and rights. Though dos Anjos was still standing, referee Herb Dean decided the Brazilian was not intelligently defending himself, and he awarded the first-round TKO victory to the new champion.
