Nicky Rodriguez’s Brother Jacob Competes In 1st Jiu-Jitsu Tournament After Training 6 Weeks

Look out, jiu-jitsu world — it looks like we need to watch out for the whole Rodriguez family now.

Jacob Rodriguez, the younger brother of ADCC silver medalist Nicky Rodriguez, has begun his own jiu-jitsu journey, and over the weekend, he competed at his first BJJ tournament.

Jacob shared footage from one of his matches at the Grappling Industries event, where he went 2-2 and won one of his matches via rear naked choke. He also gave credit to his brother for helping him with the body lock pass.

To be fair, this isn’t Jacob’s first rodeo on the mats, even if he’s new to the BJJ aspect of things. Like Nicky, he has a wrestling background, and in fact, he’s a darn good one — he crossed the 100-win threshold in 2019, also earning multiple titles in the sport before venturing into the world of submissions.

Given the work ethic and talent that run in this family, don’t be surprised if we soon see Jacob Rodriguez competing among the best of the best in the jiu-jitsu world just like his brother.
