2015 has been the year of Mackenzie Dern. Her highlights includes winning the Five Grappling Super League Championship, defeating BJJ legend Michelle Nicolini twice to win the ADCC and IBJJF World Championships, and beating Gabi Garcia enroute to the open weight Gold at the Abu Dhabi World Pro. Mackenzie, the daughter of BJJ legend Megaton Dias, recently announced she will be transitioning to MMA in the near future. She was kind enough to sit down with us to discuss her transition to MMA, growing up in a BJJ family, the growth of opportunities for women in BJJ, and how to schedule her for a seminar.
