Road to Metamoris: Episode 2 Recap

Episode two of Road to Metamoris is out now.

In case you missed the format of the tournament, it is as follows:

  • 16 competitors.
  • 4 groups of 4.
  • Round-Robin

  • Whoever gets the most submissions in the group, becomes that group’s finalist.
  • The four finalists create a new group which is then fought as a Round-Robin.
  • The winner faces Jeff Monson at Metamoris 6.

This week’s episode showed the matches from group #2.

And here are how the matches played out:

Match #1: Karl vs Warren

  • Warren pulls guard, Karl passes to half.
  • Warren maintains for a considerable amount of time.
  • Karl spins around for a knee bar.
  • Warren taps.

RESULT: Karl wins via kneebar.

Match #2: Rick vs Tony

  • Heavy grip fighting on the feet.
  • Rick secures an undertook and hits an outside trip, landing in top half guard.
  • Tony secures lock-down, Rick passes to side control.
  • Tony turtles, Rick turns him and takes the back, both hooks in.
  • Rick secures the palm-to-palm RNC.
  • Tony taps.

RESULT: Rick wins vis RNC

Match #3: Warren vs Tony

  • Warren pulls guard, Tony unwilling to engage; Warren stands again before once more pulling guard.
  • Tony attempts a rolling toe-hold.
  • Warren counters with a foot crunch.
  • Tony taps.

RESULT: Warren wins via foot crunch

Match #4: Karl vs Rick

  • Rick attempts a snap-down, Karl secures double-underhooks and gains the front headlock position.
  • Karl attempts a t-rex choke, Rick powers through and back to his feet.
  • Karl trips rick and lands in top half guard.
  • Karl uses a kimura to pass to side control.
  • Rick turtles and attempts to stand.
  • Karl pulls him back down and takes the back, securing a crossface/neck-crank on the way down.
  • Rick taps.

RESULT: Karl wins via Crossface/Neck-crank.

That win puts Karl in the lead, so he moves on to the finals.
