Ronda Rousey: ‘I would love to have a chance to be the jiu-jitsu world champion’

Nobody should be surprised that Ronda Rousey’s goals in life are wide and varied. She’s a UFC Champion, but Ronda Rousey wants to be a world champion in BJJ and even boxing. In a recent interview, Rowdy mentioned as much in a rather nonchalant manner. Her commitments to films and the UFC take away from her ability to pursue those goals, but she believes she could beat all women in BJJ and even boxing.

Ronda Rousey Interview with Time Magazine

“I want to be remembered as one of the greatest fighters of all time in any sport.

“I would love to have a chance to be the boxing world champion, I would love to have a chance to be the jiu-jitsu world champion, and I would love to have the chance to beat the previous world champions and just be the best all at one point,” she said. “To be honest, my goals are so crazy. That’s what I would really want to do, I don’t know if I even have the time, I want to do so many things.”

Her responses from the interview didn’t impress everyone. Still, Rousey is a fierce competitor that wants to be the best in MMA, not just the UFC. It’s not surprising to hear about her lofty goals or her confidence in herself. A champion should practice some level of humility, but Rowdy deserves a little extra leeway here. Although she may never get deep into BJJ or boxing, we wouldn’t be surprised to see her make a name for herself elsewhere.
