Most people don’t know who AnnMaria DeMars is, and that’s understandable. However, she’s the mother of the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion. Ronda Rousey’s mom goes off on Ronda’s coach, Edmond Tarverdyan, in a recent video. She mentions that his sexism kept him from showing Rousey any attention during her initial months at Glendale Fighting Club. For that reason, she thinks he’s a sexist pig that has done nothing for Rousey’s career.
That might sound like hyperbole, considering Rousey has gone on to become one of the UFC’s most successful fighters. Then again, DeMars makes the point that Rowdy would have become one of the greats without Tarverdyan. She makes a good point because Rousey had seen great successes in the world of MMA before she met him. DeMars even makes the point that Rousey made Tarverdyan what he is today rather than the other way around. In many ways, we believe Rousey’s mom!
