Alistair Overeem Knocks Mark Hunt Out Cold In Round 3

“The Super Samoan” Mark Hunt was looking for redemption against “The Reem” Alistair Overeem after being submitted by Alistair back in 2008.

Sadly, that just wasn’t what the fates had in mind.

Hunt cut his shin early with a leg kick but kept going strong in the first, even forcing Alistair to run away late in the round.

In the second round, Hunt held his own with some massive elbows, even though Overeem softened him up with plenty of knees against the fence.

Hunt’s corner called for more of those elbows in the third. It was a good game plan, but one that just didn’t work out. Again, Overeem pressed Hunt against the fence, but this time, he caught the Super Samoan with a huge left elbow followed by a knee. Hunt collapsed forward and fell to his knee, forcing the referee to stop the fight.

Winner by knockout (knees) at 1:44 in Round 3: Alistair “The Reem” Overeem!
