Oscar winner Halle Berry is set to direct and star in an MMA movie, and she’s enlisted the help of superstar UFC fighter Brian Ortega to make sure she’s doing it right.
Berry’s movie, Bruised, will follow the story of a disgraced MMA fighter who has to confront her failures both in her fighting career and parenthood. John Wick producer Basil Iwanyk will also be a part of the film’s production.
Berry had previously shared that she’d be working with Ortega for the film in an Instagram post:
Now, an interview with Ortega from TMZ reveals that jiu-jitsu will have plenty of time in the spotlight throughout the film. Ortega emphasized that Berry would be getting plenty of BJJ training in preparation for the film, saying that his goal was to make her jiu-jitsu look “dope as f*ck” and that he’d be making her drill hard.
