The third match in UFC 200’s prelims looked like a cat and mouse game – with Kelvin Gastelum playing the cat and Johny Hendricks playing the mouse.
Gastelum chased Johny around the cage, nailing him with ones and twos. Johny, for his part, threw his share of leather back, but when Round 1 drew to a close, there was no question which fighter was favored on the judges’ scorecards.
The second round saw Johny use more of his wrestling. He caught Kelvin’s kick and took him down with a double leg. Kelvin got back up, though, and turned it on against Johny, but the former welterweight champion returned in kind.
Round 3 told a similar tale, but ended with a flurry of hard punches from both sides. Still, Kelvin had obviously landed more punches and been the more aggressive in the match.
Official decision: Kelvin Gastelum def. Johny Hendricks via unanimous decision.
