On March 2, Midwest-based grappling organization Sub Spectrum will be hosting Sub Spectrum 7 at the Adventureland Palace Theatre in Altoona, Iowa. This event will be headlined by rising star Matt Leighton facing the always dangerous Aaron “Tex” Johnson in the main event.

Johnson, the veteran, is coming in off a victory over Ricardo Abreu at last weekend’s Kasai Super Series after going 20-10 in 2018 with a 70 percent submission rate in that time. Leighton is coming off a loss to Leo Nogueria in the absolute division at the Atlanta Summer open and posted a 21-9 record in 2018, with 48 percent of his finishes coming by submission during that time. Both athletes bring a fast-paced, submission-focused style that promises to lead to an exhilarating match.

The co-main event pits 10th Planet Freaks’ Keith Krikorian against McHugh BJJ’s John Battle. Battle is a promising up-and-comer and EBI veteran, while Krikorian went 80-2 last year with his only losses coming in the No-Gi Worlds’ semifinals and the ADCC trials finals. This match promises to showcase the best of the best of the two rising stars.

You can watch the event which is being streamed live on Sub Spectrum’s YouTube channel starting at 6 PM CST and get updates on the event’s Facebook page as well.
