10 x Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion Looks To Upgrade Striking Skills
Singapore, 9th May 2016 – Evolve Mixed Martial Arts, Asia’s top martial arts organization, today officially announces the signing of 10-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion and newly crowned ONE Light Heavyweight World Champion Roger Gracie, from the world-renowned Gracie Family, to its already impressive stable of World Champions.
Roger joins the ranks of the numerous martial arts World Champions at Evolve MMA after an impressive and dominating performance at ONE: Ascent to Power over Michael Pasternak. Roger showcased his beautiful Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills on the ground by submitting his undefeated Polish opponent via Arm-Triangle Choke in the very first round to win the inaugural ONE Light Heavyweight World Championship title.
Holding a professional MMA record of 8-2, Roger holds 10 straight wins at the IBJJF World Jiu- Jitsu Championships as a Black Belt, with three of those victories in Open Weight competition. Currently a 3rd degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Renzo Gracie, Roger will train alongside World Champions such as UFC Lightweight World Champion Rafael dos Anjos, ONE Welterweight World Champion Ben Askren, ONE Strawweight World Champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke, ONE Lightweight World Champion Shinya Aoki, Muay Thai World Champions Orono Wor Petchpun, Nong-O Gaiyanghadao, Petchboonchu FA Group, and Sagetdao Petpayathai, WBA Boxing World Champion Yodsanan Sityodtong, newly crowned ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion and ‘Asian Female Fighter of the Year’ Angela Lee, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champions Bruno Pucci, Leandro Issa, and Alex Silva, 8-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion Michelle Nicolini, and the numerous other World Champions plying their trade at Evolve MMA.
