In the world of fighting, nobody questions the Gracie last name because it’s synonymous with BJJ. One could argue that the Yamamoto last name is nearly as big, too. Rizin Fighting Federation recently made a shocking announcement. At its Fighting World Grand Prix 2015, Kron Gracie vs. 19-year-old Asen Yamamoto set for Rizin Fighting Federation on NYE. That’s undoubtedly big news, and many people are excited about the potential of this matchup.
Of course, Asen Yamamoto is a wrestling phenom but a newcomer to MMA. He’ll take on Kron Gracie, a man that knows a thing or two about mixed martial arts. The two men should put on an instant classic of a match. Until the match starts, it’s difficult to figure out who has the advantage. Spectators and fans will obviously frame this as a family name versus family name contest. Both families are synonymous with mixed martial arts in their own ways, though.
