Miesha Tate Knew She Wanted To Retire After First Exchange With Pennington

Retired UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate revealed at a recent media scrum that she had no plans of retiring before her fight against her former student, Raquel Pennington, at UFC 205.

However, after the first exchange, she came to the conclusion that it was time to say good-bye to the sport she had dedicated close to ten years of her life to.

“I just knew after the first exchange that I just didn’t want to do it anymore,” Tate told reporters at the scrum. “So, it was just kind of one of those things that just suck it out, but I knew I had a lot more to give, and I just didn’t give it. So, I don’t know. It’s just one of those things that’s kind of odd, to be honest.”

You can watch the rest of Miesha Tate’s scrum below, and don’t forget to check out her grappling match this December 11 when she takes on UFC bantamweight Jessica “Evil” Eye at Chael Sonnen’s Submission Underground 2.
