Brown Belt Defends Himself With Jiu-Jitsu After Allegedly Being Attacked In San Francisco

In yet another instance of jiu-jitsu being used for self-defense, brown belt and Lamorinda Jiu-Jitsu coach Mozart Gutierrez was able to take his alleged attacker’s back and put him in a rear naked choke after being assaulted on the streets of San Francisco.

Video of the incident shows Gutierrez explaining to bystanders that he’d been attacked by the man he was controlling and asking that someone call the police. After the two return to their feet, it seems that both men walked away from the incident uninjured.

  1. Mozart is a good guy, I know him personally. I can attest that: 1) he says the man was following for a block and a half, shouting obscenities. It was only after being ignored that the man’s anger escalated and he took a swing at Mozart. At that point, Moz locked him down, and 2) his respect for the art is utmost, he would never be the aggressor in a conflict. It’s just not in his nature.
