Lapel Guard- The Lapel guard is somewhat newer, but has gained popularity because it is very difficult to pass. This guard involves placing your foot into a wrapped lapel in order to hold your opponent back while he is in your guard. This guard is primarily used for sweeps or transitions because it is difficult to submit while one of your feet is being used already.
