Bernardo Faria’s Reassuring Words To The Newly Promoted

One of the things we hear most often from people who were recently promoted to a new belt is, “I don’t think I deserve this.”

On the one hand, this is a good thing. It means that the person who was promoted is humble.

On the other hand, it can make some newly promoted students feel like they have something to prove. How often do you see blue belts going extra hard against white belts because they’re afraid of getting tapped by a lower belt…especially in front of the instructor?

If you’re one of these people, then Professor Bernardo Faria has some words for you: chill out! You deserve your rank, and getting tapped out by a lower belt isn’t that big of a deal.

Check out his video above to hear exactly what he has to say.
