Submission Underground 10 To Feature Gordon Ryan Vs. Gabriel Gonzaga, Craig Jones Vs. Dean Lister

Submission Underground has just released its official poster for its tenth event, and with it comes the announcement of two matches that grappling fans will be excited to see.

SUG has revealed that Gordon Ryan will be taking on Gabriel Gonzaga in the main event of SUG 10 at the end of the year. The match is the latest one announced for a soon-to-be very busy Ryan, who is already scheduled to compete at ADCC at the end of this month, then the World Jiu-Jitsu Festival in October, then Third Coast Grappling III at the beginning of December. Gonzaga, a UFC veteran, has also made a name for himself in the BJJ scene, winning Worlds in 2006 and even earning silver at ADCC over a decade ago. He’s still an active (and successful) jiu-jitsu competitor, having won gold at the IBJJF World Masters this year, and fans will be looking to see if his added years of expertise will be enough to defeat jiu-jitsu’s current “it” guy.

The other headlining match will be a similar battle of new talent and an established legend, with Craig Jones facing off against Dean Lister. A household name since 2017 when he famously choked Leandro Lo at ADCC, Jones has since become a two-division Polaris champion and established himself as one of the top leg lockers of his generation. However, he’ll meet his match against Lister, who’s a two-time ADCC champ and has long been known for his heel hooking prowess.

SUG has promised fans ten matches consisting of black belt competitors on this card (which will stream on UFC Fight Pass), and given that it’ll take place on December 22, it will be a great early Christmas present for grappling fans.
